Two Carbide Installation Methods Compared

• Direct Press-Fit: The tungsten carbide insert is pressed directly into the outer case. Simpler initial fabrication, but replacing worn carbide often damages or scraps the outer die case.
• Intermediate Sleeve Assembly (Recommended): An intermediate steel sleeve is fitted around the tungsten carbide insert before being press-fitted into the outer die housing. Allows seamless core replacement, protecting the mold case for years of continuous reuse.
